Ion temperature profile importance in collisional sheath modelling

Abstract A plasma fluid model is being developed for the simulation of a direct current discharge including sheath regions. The code uses second order centered finite difference scheme and time integration done by strong stability preserving third Runge-Kutta method. separation scalar vectorial quantities in two different grids gives stable results. After validation comparison with theoretical ion profiles, one dimensional argon was simulated compared to 1D3v particle-in-cell It shown that inclusion non constant temperature profile mandatory models recover correct increase velocity sheaths thus simulate (DC) discharges where collisions are not negligible sheaths.
